There is a lot of people who does not know about the productivity enhancing commands in the later versions of SDSF. This tip will review some of the most useful enhancements. There are more, and if you don't mind reading danish, just click here or here or here.
If you want to use the same line command on a block of jobs, you can use a // line command on the first job and again on the last job. After one of the //, you can put the existing line command, you want to be performed on all of the jobs. This eliminates the tedious work of pressing the crlf button and the line command button repeatedly. Try it with the S command before you move on with C or P.
If you have selected a lot of jobs with //S and regrets it after some jobs, so far I have found that the only way out is the RETURN primary command. If you have other better alternatives I will be glad to hear about it.
An other powerful line command is SJ. It takes you into the job JCL as it looked, when it was submitted in an EDIT-sesion. Now you have the possibility to edit and re-submit the job without altering the original job. The best thing though is that you can see and edit the contens of DD * statements (typically //SYSIN DD *).
You can also perform editing on the job output by using the SE line command. I use this facility a lot, but remember when you press the END key all of you editing is gone! I beleive, that the fastest way to save output in a dataset is by using the XDC line command. It will pop up a panel, where you can enter a datasetname and optionally a member name. When you press ENTER output is saved in this dataset/member. SDSF will remember the data entered on this panel from session to session.
