MainframeSupports
tip week 36/2005:

Back in week 48 of 2001 I wrote my first tip about BookManager in english. Here almost four years later you will get the final story. In the meantime I have abandoned BookManager on the mainframe and use the internet version instead. If you still think the mainframe version is better or faster or more intuitive or whatever then don't miss this part. Instead of letting BookManager start by showing a loooong list of bookshelves, BookManager can show you the contens of your personal bookshelf.

To do the trick you must start BookManager in the usual fashion. In all BookManager panels there is a menu bar containing the item Options. Choose this item. In the drop down menu you choose item 2. Set default bookshelf.... Now a pop up window appears. In this window you fill in the field Default bookshelf using the name of your own personal bookshelf. From this point in time BookManager will start by showing your personal bookshelf instead of the almost worthless bookshelves list.

Sometimes you will need the bookshelves list anyway when you are looking for new exciting manuals. Then it is nice to know that the bookshelves list can be selected by choosing item Books in the menu bar followed by choosing item 4. List bookshelves.... In the pop up window you choose 1. All bookshelves. Now you are temporarily back where you used to start. And now you will be able to take advantage of the tip from week 32 of 2004.
