tip week 43/2015:

If you like to work with excluded line(s) in IPSF then the command HIDE X is absolutely something for you. This command completely removes the lines telling you that there are one or more excluded lines(s) present. Instead the line number to the left of all the last non-excluded data-lines is underlined. The hidden lines are of course still a part of your data and by using the command RESET HIDE the display is returned to the view it had before you carried out the HIDE X command.

It was one of my new colleagues that made me aware of the HIDE X command. Just like I was, he was often annoyed by the space taken by the lines specifying where the excluded line(s) are. They are especially in the way when you want to use the cut and paste function present in the 3270 emulator to copy the non-exluded lines. This problem is also solved by the HIDE X command. It is a simple and brilliant solution, but please be aware that your emulator must emulate a terminal type that supports underlining. It should not be any problem, but if it fails to work for you then now you know why.
