This tip (which is not really a tip) is published exactly 20 years after the first tip was published here on mainframesupport.dk. I hope you have enjoyed it just as much as I have. During the last 20 years I have published app. 425 original tips. I also got a lot of positive response from you dear readers, which I have enjoyed the most.
When I started my ambition was to publish a new tip every week. Two things happened to that strategy. Firstly I discovered I had a lot of readers from abroad and I soon assumed they could not all be fluent in Danish, so I decided to translate my tips to English. Secondly it was quite hard for me to come up with new stuff every week, so the tips as today started to alternate between new Danish tips and English translations.
At some point I also found it hard to come up with a new tip every second week so I decided to translate two tips and then publish a new one. This strategy could not continue forever as the well of danish tips would eventually dry out. So again I decided to slow down on the publishing of new tips to the speed it has today where I publish a new tip every fourth week and translate a tip every fourth week. Thus something is happening on my site every second week.
When I started Google had just been invented and for many years my tips were ranked higher than material being published on the internet by IBM. Five or six years ago this changed dramatically when IBM finally realised to take advantage of Google. At the same time Google decided to put a lot of requirements on how you build and report your site to Google in order to get it indexed and I did not realise this. When I did I just got tired. So I have not done anything to get back to be indexed by Google. These two events has reduced the number of visitor to my site significantly, and today I have a little and faithful group of visitors. Thank you to you!
My goal now is to keep the current pace until I somehow looses access to a mainframe. I believe in hands on experience and not just writing stuff solely based on what the manual says. See you soon in a fortnight or so :-)
