MainframeSupports
tip week 19/2003:

Abend-Aid is a product that is installed on a lot of mainframe installations. It has helped many programmers to make unreadable dumps readable. Unfortunately Abend-Aid also removes informations that sometimes are nessecary to have in order to solve the dump. These informations can be found in a real SYSUDUMP.

If you end up in a situation where you need a real SYSUDUMP instead of the Abend-Aid formatted dump, it is very nice to know that Abend-Aid can be disabled in a very easy way in batch. You simply include a DD card in your job called ABNLIGNR. This card could look like //ABNLIGNR DD DUMMY and when it is included output to DD card SYSUDUMP will be formatted as a real SYSUDUMP.
